Dad's Memories

Perhaps the single most descriptive way to describe Steven and his handicap is to repeat a brief conversation him and

I had on our way from Las Vegas to San Diego to participate in a normal Southern California Division Motocross.

He was about 8 years old.

Steven: "Dad, why do you think I was born without a hand?"

Me:     "Steven, I am sorry but I really don't have an answer for you. I don't know why. I suspect something

occurred to keep your hand from continuing to grow. I really do not know the answer."

After a short period of time, perhaps a minute or so...

Steven: "Dad, I think I know why. God did not give me a hand because there was someone else that needed

a hand more than I did, so he gave it to him."

Tears welled up in my eyes. I was so proud of him.

I Love you Bud,

Dad
